The Inner Circle is opposed to the apartheid regime of Israel. We are also apposed to the use of open air jails that keep the Palestinians in permanent political, economic, military and cultural isolation and subjugation. Having our historical context rooted in a history of apartheid in South Africa, we are in solidarity with Nelson Mandela’s sentiment that South Africa will not be free until Palestinians are free. We are therefore apposed to the continued occupation of Palestinian land and the denial of basic human rights. In reference to the Quranic injunction to strive towards peace and reconciliation, as an international organisation, The Inner Circle supports initiatives of engagement and negotiation and working towards peaceful resolutions.
HM2F’s decision to participate in a controversial program was their own and was not made in consultation with The Inner Circle. Hence, HM2F will have to bear the consequences of that decision.
We have requested more information from HM2F, including an itinerary of the trip to Israel so that we can make an informed decision around future engagements with HM2F and its leadership.
